New Vessel to the UCC Fleet

Net TenderUCC is proud to have launched another custom diving vessel to its fleet.  The Net Tender was built by Anderson Boat Works, Inc. of Saugatuck Michigan in 2009 to the specifications of UCC’s boat committee and work scopes. It operates out of the Midwest Division servicing all inland lakes and rivers including the Great Lakes and also has offshore capabilities.  The Net Tender measures 30 feet in length with a beam of 11 feet.  Its main use assists the power generation industry to comply with the EPA 316B regulations.  For over 20 years UCC’s experts have worked with fish barrier nets at power utilities across the U.S.  Our divers have successfully completed all aspects of inspection, repair, installation and removal of barrier nets greatly reducing impingement and entrainment of aquatic species.  The Net Tender can easily be trailered to distant work sites saving money on mobilization.

UCC Recognized to Perform Underwater Ship Husbandry

UCC has been Recognized by Five Ship Classification Societies to Perform Underwater Ship Husbandry

In the shipping industry, classification societies are non-governmental organizations or groups of professionals, ship surveyors and representatives of offices that promote the safety and protection of the environment of ships and offshore structures.  Classification societies set technical rules, confirm that designs and calculations meet these rules, survey ships and structures during the process of construction and commissioning, and periodically survey vessels to ensure that they continue to meet the rules.

Underwater Ship Husbandry programs provide cost effective solutions when dry-docking is infeasible or impractical. Past experience has shown that underwater inspection, maintenance and repair can be performed at a level of quality equal to that of work performed in dry-dock.  State of the art inspection techniques followed by a well-engineered repair plan help to ensure that this is accomplished. UCC is currently recognized by the American Bureau of Shipping, Lloyd’s Register of Shipping, Germanischer Lloyd, Bureau Veritas, and Det Norske Veritas.
